Fly Fishing

I learned to fly fish and tie flies from my Uncle Harry when I was in elementary school. He gave me an old bamboo fly rod, and a passion for this sport was born. I spent a lot of time with Uncle Harry, tying flies that we would use while fly fishing on the Big Thompson River.

After completing college, I married Lee Ann and became a high school chemistry teacher. Teaching was a richly rewarding profession, but the pay was meager. To supplement my meager teaching salary, I started a side business, DiscountFlies Online Fly Shop to help cover a few bills.

Over the next 20 years, the business grew, I retired from teaching, then in 2022, sold my fly shop. This cleared my schedule to fly fish a LOT more! Thanks Uncle Harry for planting this seed that grew!
